These school holidays are shaping up to be a tale of two cities for the Gold Coast, with some tourism operators preparing for the best of times and others bracing for one of the worst seasons yet.

A Broadbeach holiday apartment complex was on track for a busy September, but is now facing occupancy of between 40 to 60 per cent, but a holiday park in Helensvale expects to be 80 per cent full for the break.
